Newgrounds.com — Everything, By Everyone.

These were my suggestions at the end of the Newgrounds survey. Thought I should post them here.

P-bot's Vacuum:
My suggestion is to create a P-bot 'vacuum cleaner' that spots old content with scores less than 1.60 and removes them from the system. Almost everyday I see submissions with 1.12, .89, or even .42 and it frustrates me that such a great site is being ruined by a small fraction of the people who use it. The vacuum cleaner would also need to have a feature that allows Newgrounds staff to mark classics (Such as 'B') and not have it removed. The code might look something like this:

Of course, this would need to be extensively tested in safe environments and with backup servers should the program begin to mistakenly delete quality content.

Furthermore I suggest that the minimum score of 1.60 should be raised to 1.80 or even 2.00, this would remove TONS of spam daily while encouraging users to create better or funnier content. It would also serve to clean up the Newgrounds servers.

Newgrounds Alpha revamp:
While Newgrounds Alpha had great potential, it unfortunately never took off the ground. I suggest that it should be updated as a site on the same server that allows users to post content that only they (and perhaps moderators) can access on the Newgrounds servers without publishing a final copy. This gives users a chance to make sure their work can be viewed properly on Newgrounds, various browsers, and perhaps other computers. The file would only be hosted for 2 to 24 hours, (by choice of the user), after which the file is deleted opening up that server space once again. There would be no limit to how many submission a user could post each day, but only three files could be on the server at a time from one user.

Deleting Reviews:Create a way to for a user to delete their own reviews 1-4 weeks after posting (maybe only if review is considered 'useless') if they said something disrespectful or outright stupid but does not warrant the 'abusive' flag or suspension. This cannot be be done by an author trying to improve review scores of their submission.
